Level Grove 4th grade teacher Mr. Daniel Medders was recognized on November 13th with the Extra Mile Award.  He was nominated by Dr. Hudson, Mr. Berry, and Mrs. Shedd.  Here are the words they used to highlight Mr. Medders.

"Mr. Medders continually goes the extra mile at Level Grove in leading our students to fulfill our vision to be Level Grove Bulldog All-Stars Where Every Player Plays and Every Player Wins! Mr. Medders is an exemplary teacher who engages every student by providing high impact instructional strategies integrated with high level student interests. Mr. Medders loves Marvel and DC Comics and displays a board in the hallway that highlights a “Superhero Sidekick” who has shown exemplary work on a math assignment. Students love reading about the Sidekick’s accomplishment and look forward to earning the Superhero Sidekick status. Mr. Medders is also an extremely talented artist and his artwork is highly sought after by the students of LGES.  Mr. Medders takes the time to draw pictures for his students and uses them as incentives to encourage his students to exhibit good behavior, have good work ethic and excel academically.    In addition, Mr. Medders co-leads our Young Men of Honor mentoring group with Mr. Berry to empower young men to be chivalrous and honorable leaders with moral excellence. Fourth and fifth grade boys are nominated by their teachers to participate in the group.  Mr. Medders also leads a Response to Intervention group for our fourth and fifth graders struggling in math.  The students in his RTI group are making great gains due to the focused and intentional planning and instruction provided by Mr. Medders.  Level Grove is thankful for Mr. Medders and his willingness to go the extra mile to help all students succeed!"
